Planting Day

Sunday, June 25th 2017
2:00pm - 5:00pm

We’re happy to announce our first Planting Day at Catawba Farms. We’ve just received our shipment of 2017 vines and we’d love it if you’d join us in getting them planted. You’ll be able to tag the vines you plant with your name, so you can come back and visit to see how they’re doing. Then, in the future, when you enjoy the fruits of your labor, you can share your planting story with your friends. We invite you to experience vineyard seasons with us.

We will be in the vineyard dirt with you, to show you the planting steps.
2:00pm – 5:00pm
BBQ and wine at 5:00pm.

Plan on arriving shortly before 2:00pm. Please enter from Technibilt Drive. We’ll all assemble under the Farmers’ Market shed.

Tips for a successful day

  • 1. Wear it well. It can get hot out there, under a strong sun. While we appreciate the latest fashions, we recommend comfortable, durable, protective clothing (long sleeves and pants) that you don’t mind getting dirty. Bring a hat too, and make sure to apply plenty of sunscreen before you arrive.
  • 2. Bring gloves. Playing in the dirt can be hard on the hands.
  • 3. Knee pads or foam knee mats. These save your knees from the inevitable rock you will kneel down upon.
  • 4. Stay hydrated. Bring that Yeti or other water container. We will have a supply of cold water on hand.
  • 5. Wear proper footwear. Boots are strongly advised to give you plenty of support.

The Location

Less than an hour from uptown Charlotte, yet a world away, the 34 acres of Catawba Farms provide the perfect backdrop for this unique gala event. Adjacent to Catawba Farms' Great Hall, you'll find The Peacock Inn at Catawba Farms bed and breakfast. The Inn occupies the core of the old Sigmon farmhouse built in the late 1800’s. Beautiful antiques abound but all rooms have been recently remodeled. It is a five bedroom facility with a large master bedroom and four upper rooms for your stay. Consider booking a room at the Inn to complete a memorable evening.
